Assignment Capsule
As an underwriting specialist you will perform standard financial risk analysis in conformance with established underwriting policies, procedures, and methodologies, working closely with customers to resolve demonstrated customer needs.
- Review applications, gather data, and assess information.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of state-specific requirements and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations.
- Have an understanding of underwriting fundamentals.
- Exercise limited authority to release underwriting actions and submit underwriting work for analysis, review, and approval.

Role Essentials
- Associate Degree in Business, Marketing, or a health-related field or equivalent work experience
- Telephone contact and customer service work
- Solid oral and written communication skills
- Good typing skills
- Comfortable with phone work 90% of the day while documenting information.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Role Desirables
- Bachelors Degree in Business, Marketing or equivalent work experience
- Prior health insurance industry experience
Reporting Relationships
- You will report to a Manager. This area is under the leadership of the SVP & Chief Operating Officer.
