Assignment Capsule
As an actuary you will: quantify risk and uncertainty, determining price levels and product portfolios consistent with business-wide objectives, performing proper valuations of liabilities, and ensuring actuarial compliance as required by federal law and standards of practice.
- Create, evaluate, test and support statistical, actuarial and data model designs for root cause analyses that can be used to increase business intelligence and domain expertise
- Conduct root cause analyses, using your results to create recommendations for trend mitigation
- Develop a library of metrics, methods, reports, results and recommendations
- Act as a key resource and liaison to other functional areas of Humana's business, building productive cross-functional relationships

Role Essentials
- Bachelor's Degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
- Credit for Society of Actuary exams in the area of Actuarial Modeling
- Experience in the health solution industry, with demonstrated experience in the areas of pricing, product development, pharmacy management and benefits design, risk adjustment, disease/condition management, outcomes analysis, financial recoveries, and fraud and abuse
- Proficiency in SAS-based programming
- Working knowledge of relational databases, including Oracle, Access and My SQL, and SQL/PL programming skills
Role Desirables
- Master's Degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
- Experience with SPSS, Matlab, C/C++, Java and Visual Basic
Reporting Relationships
- You will report to an Actuarial Process Manager. This area is under the leadership of the SVP & Chief Financial Officer.
